In 1977, our company began with only two people and few pieces of used bindery equipment in 1,500 square feet of rented space. Today, we are a leading bindery serving the Pacific Northwest. Rapid Bind, Inc. now has more than forty employees, operates two shifts and utilizes 34,000 square feet of clean, efficiently organized space in Portland, Oregon.
Sue Hein, President
Since joining Rapid Bind in 1985, Sue has served our customers in a variety of roles, including stints in estimating and sales. She entered into the company partnership in 1992 and became Rapid Bind president in early 2004. She oversees daily company operations. Her prior experience includes stints in accounting and administrative management at both real estate firms and a prominent local newspaper. When not at Rapid Bind, she enjoys hiking, gardening and spending time with her grandchildren.
Russ Haines, Vice President
Russ began his career in the graphic arts industry at 1972. He honed his operational expertise as a print shop apprentice and brought fifteen years of prepress, print and bindery experience to Rapid Bind in 1989. After being promoted to plant manager in 1998, he became a partner in 2001. He is an archery hunter and camper who recently joined a bowling league with his oldest grandson.
Chris Garvey, Vice President
Garvey, who now has more than 10 years of experience at Rapid Bind, began his career as a diemaker in the company's letterpress department. Donning many hats, Chris has also been a lead press operator and the letterpress department manager prior to being named Vice President of Production.
